The people at the Whanganui Learning Centre are well-qualified and selected for their skills and abilities relevant to adult education, business and computer training, adult literacy and graphic design.
They understand the importance of confidentiality, are passionate about teaching and learning, engage in research themselves, and are committed to making a positive difference for their learners.
Each year, management and tutors extend their knowledge and skills by attending conferences and training workshops. This helps them to maintain their energy and enthusiasm for their chosen profession while feeling supported. They return energized and with new information to help our learners keep on progressing.
“A positive and non-judgemental regard for all learners, irrespective of their backgrounds and abilities, small class sizes to ensure individual attention, and modeling of effective communication by staff results in learners developing their cognitive abilities, including self-management, learning to learn skills, and awareness of themselves as learners” NZQA, 2011
